MEKO VILLAGE
Located just over an hour’s drive from Cotonou, the village of Meko lies south of Ouidah, about 50 km west, beyond Casa del Papa. Access is via the coastal cordon through a pedestrian wooden bridge. Lush and surrounded by the Ouidah lagoon, Meko offers a privileged natural setting. The site houses four bungalows totaling eight rooms, in a chic ecolodge style where wood and woven fibers dominate. Each room, equipped with a large bed with a flowing mosquito net, invites rest. The whole is in architectural and landscape continuity with the Native project and embodies the ambition of Native Evasion: to provide a place of relaxation, calm, and rediscovery of Benin’s cultural and natural heritage. The village plans to include a hot air balloon station, a seafood restaurant, areas dedicated to salt production, markets, a sacred forest, and public spaces devoted to traditional deities.
